Traditional crafts, technologies and natural materials are analyzed by the authors of the article by means of system approach to household items made of different natural materials and technology of their manufacturing not only regarding their functions but considering them to be applied arts items that is of practical value for modern design. Ceramics being one of the ancient forms of arts and crafts arisen at the time of clay handicrafts making is an example of styles and schools variety such as “Kamares” and “Carpet” styles vase painting, black-figure and red-figure pottery, multicolored painting on black pottery, porcelain making, majolica, encaustic tile making, the Gzhel ceramics etc. One more kind of natural materials craftsmen art is wood craft. There are a lot of types of wood craft such as carving, inlaid wood, including marquetry technique and its types, “frontal” or “block” mosaic, birch bark craft, wood particle filigree and inlay. The authors of the article analyze centuries-long experience of marble craft and different stone carving craft techniques including Florentine mosaic and glyptic in the context of giving characteristics to such kind of arts and crafts as stone carving.
